Sex can get weird once feelings enter the chat. And feelings always enter the chat.
Bodies hunger. They want what they want. Then feelings show up with their own agendas: fear of rejection, longing for connection, the sting of “not tonight.” Suddenly, simplicity is a no-go.
That cavernous space between needing release and starving for connection? It’s the reason I’m pivoting.
The Love Is… podcast has become Sex In Real Life.
Don’t get your knickers in a wad, I’m not done with relationship-ing. But if we’re being honest (and we are), our sex lives speak volumes about where we land on the fulfilment spectrum.
Are you happy? Satisfied? Stifled?
Is your relationship healthy? On the brink? Delicious?
Does your creativity flow like a river? Or feel dried up like the Sahara?
Sex is a looking glass… and we’re going to look all up and through this piece.
We won’t be talking about techniques. You’ve got Google for that. But we are going to explore the messiness of intimacy, the tenderness of getting naked (literally, emotionally, and metaphorically). And the complexities of being in relationship with other humans.
Because bodies have feelings. And when we talk about sex, what we’re really talking about is being vulnerable, being seen, and feeling like we matter. And all the ways we fumble trying to get our emotional needs met physically.
Yep, we are going there.
This first short and sweet episode sets the stage.
